Cats hit 15 3-point shots in win over LeTourneau

by LC Sports Information

LC misses school record by just one

The Louisiana College men’s basketball team’s slim post-season hopes hinged upon a victory against American Southwest Conference East Division foe LeTourneau.

The Wildcats delivered to the tune of a near-record-tying performance in an 85-67 win.

The key to Cats’ performance was simple - three-pointers, three-pointers and more three-pointers - 15 in all, just one off the school mark for three-pointers in a game set by the 1997 Wildcats against Belhaven.

The Wildcats (9-13, 7-10 ASC) shot 50 percent from long-range, going 15-for-30 on the night.

Senior guards Daniel Greenhouse (Marksville, La./Marksville High) and Jeremy Hollier (Ragley, La./Merryville High) paced the long-distance barrage for Louisiana College with Hollier posting a game-high 21 points on 4-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc and Greenhouse hitting six of his 10 three-point attempts for 18 points.

Sophomore point guard JeLani Mitchell (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville High) was a solid 3-for-4 from three-point land and accounted for 16 points in the win.

Sophomore center Korey Salmon (Deville, La./Buckeye High knocked down one of his two three-points attempts but used his 6-foot-9 frame to his advantage in the low post for the majority of his 15 points.

While the Wildcats rolled from outside, LeTourneau struggled shooting just 8-for-20 from three-point range.

The Jackets (9-13, 8-10 ASC) were led in scoring by JJ Rockmore (18 points) and Marcel Louimeus (12).

LC will close out the home portion of their schedule Tuesday when they host Mississippi College on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m.
