Coach Rushing calls it one of his biggest wins ever.

Chukwumah Ekeh scored just six points for the Louisiana College Wildcats, but two of them were bigger than any other bucket all night.

Ekeh laid home a brilliant backdoor feed from Jelani Mitchell with five seconds remaining and the LC Wildcats upset the University of Texas-Dallas 69-68 on Thursday night.

The Comets, ranked 17th in the nation in Division 3, had beaten the Wildcats by 28 points just a week ago in Richardson, Texas, but Chris Barnes front-rimmed the first half of a one-and-one to give Mitchell, Ekeh, and the Wildcats the opportunity to pull the upset.

Mitchell was the offensive spark for the Wildcats all evening, scoring 21 points including four of seven from behind the three point line. Mitchell also dished out three assists and pulled in four rebounds, and kept LC in the game with big baskets at clutch times.

Daniel Greenhouse added twelve points of his own, including a huge three-pointer to cut the Wildcats lead to 68-65. Mitchell sunk two foul shots before the Wildcats fouled to set up the dramatic climax of the game.

Shaun Johnson led the Cats with six rebounds, and added ten points of his own, shooting five for eight from the floor.

LC hung with Texas-Dallas in the first half, leading at the break by two points, but the visitors grabbed an eight point advantage in the second frame, led by sharp shooting from Scott Rodgers, who led all scorers with 22 points, and was 10-17 from the field.

The Wildcats also had trouble on the defensive boards, giving up second and third chances many trips down the floor that hindered their early chances to pull back into the game.

The Comets, still at the top of the American Southwest Conference East division, see their record drop to 16-4 (13-2 in conference play). The Wildcats improve to 8-11, with a 6-8 mark in the conference. They will hope to carry the momentum from this win into Saturday afternoon, when they host an important game against the University of the Ozarks.
