Follow The Star features “hands-on” crafts for kids

by Marlisa Quinney

Children make their own ornaments

This year's Follow the Star will feature an interactive, hands-on craft center for children. Grade school children are invited to join Dr. Marion Skiles and the education division as they guide the children through different booths featuring Christmas themed-crafts.

“We’d like Follow the Star to offer something fun for everyone," said Dr. Marion Skiles. "that’s the whole point of our children’s crafts.”

The children’s crafts make the event family-friendly and provide an energy outlet for children anxiously awaiting Christmas.

The children will have an opportunity to make an ornament that will serve as a Follow the Star keepsake for years to come, as well as other crafts that will remain a secret until the opening night!

And here's a scheduling note for families that have participated in the crafts in years past. This year, the event will take place in Granberry rather than in Weathersby Fine Arts building. The crafts will be available both Thursday and Friday nights from 6 until 8 p.m.
