Fundraiser to benefit LC student

by Karlee Farris

Freshman Husband currently at St. Jude

As Louisiana College freshman Hiillary Husband continues to her battle with a form of cancer at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Husband's friends and the LC community will rally to her support at a fundraiser scheduled for Nov. 17 in Alexandria.

Husband, an 18-year-old DeRidder native, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2006, and went into remission in 2010. Recently Hillary was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Currently she is receiving treatment at St. Jude after a test revealed that she had a mass in her chest that was causing fluid buildup.

The St. Jude Benefit Social and Silent Auction will take place next Thursday at Bellino’s Italian Restaurant in Alexandria from 5 to 8 p.m. The ticket cost is $20.00 per person.

All of the proceeds from this event will be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital on behalf of Husband. According to St. Jude, the hospital's daily operating cost is $1.7 million.
