Get ready to laugh with tlc’s “Arsenic and Old Lace”

Spring production features a classic comedy (WATCH VIDEO)

Don't drink the wine!

That's the lesson to be learned during theatre louisiana college's presentation of "Arsenic and Old Lace."

This farcical comedy was written in the 1940s, but stands the test of time with plenty of good laughs.

And the laughs began Thursday night with the opening night of the show. Additional performances are set for this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 2:30 p.m., and then next Thursday through Saturday at 7 and Sunday, March 28 at 2:30.

The Wildcat will have a full review of the show next week. But here is what some of the cast had to say about putting together this latest production.

John Willie (plays Mortimer Brewster): "'Arsenic and Old Lace' has been very different in the sense of us not having a lot of rehearsal time. We've been really pressed with busy schedules - people out of town and a big cast. So, it's been hard to get everyone to commit. But it's coming together. It's been a good process. It always is. You really learn a lot about searching for a character and getting into that character."

Candice Carr (plays Abby Brewster): "There's a lot of humor in this production and we're hoping for several laughs. The humor is found mainly in the back-to-back-to-back lines. It was a lot to memorize. But our director, the faithful Tabitha (Huffman), has pushed us to memorize them. We're hoping to do the script and its playwright justice."

Dale De Perrodil, a 2003 LC graduate (plays Teddy Brewster): "It's such a timeless piece - it's a classic. The play itself has great history and it's just a wonderful show filled with humor, filled with excitement - it's a good show. It's been a great experience. The cast has been wonderful and Tabitha Huffman, the director, has been amazing."

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for non-LC students and senior citizens. You can call 318-487-7227 to reserve your seats.
