Iles delivers message at student-led chapel

In an annual event on campus, LC's March 25 chapel featured a sermon from Terry Iles, a junior from Dry Creek, La.

Iles spoke from Phillipians 2:5-11 on living lives worthy of the Gospel.

"The point of Paul putting Jesus in front of you is not just for observation," Iles told his fellow-students and faculty members. "You're supposed to look at Jesus for imitation."

Iles pointed out that Jesus Christ, in condescending from Heaven to Earth, moving from the Manger to the Cross, and then from the Grave to Heaven again, gave the ultimate example of humility and service before becoming the ultimate example of exaltation.

"We see him with the heart of a servant," Iles said. "Is that your attitude toward your brothers and sisters in Christ? Are you arrogant, or do you view yourself as a humble servant to the church?

"Seek out your motives. Judge your thoughts and attitudes. As we seek to imitate Christ, there is a day when God will exalt us."
