Cats need to shake off loss before huge weekend

PINEVILLE - The Louisiana College baseball team suffered its fourth straight disappointment here Tuesday night with an 11-3 loss to LSU-Alexandria on the road.

LSU-A scored one run in the first, two in the fourth, five in the fifth and three in the seventh inning to amass its offense, 11 runs on 13 hits with one error committed.

The Wildcats (11-21) did not score until the seventh inning, when they were already down 8-0 thanks to several errors and a collection of unearned runs. They added another run in the eighth but were unable to close the gap with the Generals.

LC finished with three runs on just six hits and committed three errors.

Starting pitcher Josh Foster (0-3) took the loss after pitching four innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out four and walking no one.

Aryo Fleming earned the win for LSU-Alexandria after pitching seven innings, striking out four and allowing four hits.

The top batters on the night for LC were Cody Laprarie and Matt Savoie. Laprarie went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Savoie went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored off the bench.

The Wildcats return to action this Friday night at 6 p.m. with an important, American Southwest Conference East game against LeTourneau.
