Stephanie Baer takes first in varsity

The Louisiana College debate team has been busy competing this month. First, the team competed at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas, which featured two tournaments in one weekend. In overall results, the LC team finished 2nd in the first tournament and 3rd in the second tournament. Freshman team member, James Arnold, was a finalist in the competition.

Also this month, the team traveled to the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, Ark,, where junior English major, Stephanie Baer, took first place in the varsity division, and LC senior football team captain, Tony Webb, went 6-2 in the novice division. The tournament was a first for Webb, who finished as an octo-finalist.

The team will compete only once more this semester at the Nationals Tournament at the University of Central Arkansas on March 25-28.

"The team will finish in the top five nationally," LC coach Scot Loyd said. "And is poised to bring home multiple awards and possible national championships in all three divisions of debate.”
