LC men can’t hold lead, fall to Texas-Tyler

by Will Tubbs

Outscored 46-31 in 2nd half

The LC Wildcats had the chance to jump into the top four in the American Southwest Conference’s East Division, but a 76-70 loss to Texas-Tyler dropped Lousiana College to seventh.

LC (6-8, 4-6 in ASC) led 39-30 at the break, but was outscored 46-31 in the second half by the Patriots (9-5, 5-4).

The loss overshadowed a second straight stellar performance by junior forward Chukwuma Ekeh (Alexandria, La./Holy Savior Menard High), who followed up a 23-point performance Tuesday night against Mississippi College with a 20-point, six-rebound showing Thursday night.

Ekeh also added three assists and a block to his stat sheet during the course of the game.

Unfortunately for LC, only one other player reacher double-figures on the night, sophomore point guard JeLani Mitchell (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville High), who put up 13 points in the loss.

The Wildcats return to action next Thursday, January 21, with a road trip to East Texas Baptist University.
