Tony Perkins to give commencement address

PINEVILLE, La. – Nearly 180 students will receive their degrees during Louisiana College’s spring commencement ceremony set for Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Guinn Auditorium.

This will be the 105th graduation in LC’s history. It will include more than 140 students who have earned their bachelor’s degrees, the rest being comprised of students who have completed the Master of Arts in Teaching program as well as the Associate of Applied Science.

It has been another exciting year at Louisiana College, and we're blessed to have so many outstanding students,” said LC president, Dr. Joe Aguillard. “This class will take the academics, faith and values they've learned while at LC and impact our community, our country and our world for Jesus Christ.”

The guest speaker for this year’s graduation is Tony Perkins, president of the Washington D.C.-based Family Research Council. Perkins is a familiar face on the national scene when it comes to speaking on or defending Judeo-Christian values. The former Louisiana legislator is also the host of the radio program “Washington Watch Weekly” and provides a daily commentary carried by more than 300 radio stations across the country.

In October of 1998, Perkins a recipient of LC’s Board of Trustees’ highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, at its annual Founder’s Day ceremony.

“Tony Perkins is a champion of the values our country is founded upon - faith, family and freedom,” Dr. Aguillard said. “His work in Washington is of utmost importance when it comes to defending America's strong Christian heritage. Tony has been a long-time friend of Louisiana College, and we're excited to have him back on campus.”

LC’s commencement ceremony is primarily for the students and their families and seats are by ticket only. For more information, you can visit http://www.lacollege.edu or contact the Office of College Communications (318) 487-7194.
