by Scot Loyd

Lecturers included LC's Dr. Quarles

Approximately 25 students from Louisiana College, representing several different majors, attended “Confronting the Culture,” an Apologetics conference presented by The Institute of Christian Apologetics on the campus of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Jan. 3-8.

The Conference featured a wide rage of topics and speakers on matters of the Christian Faith. The intensive five-day conference was an opportunity for students to earn up to six credits toward their degree program in just one week. Dr. Chuck Quarles, Vice-President for the Integration of Faith and Learning at Louisiana College was one of the featured lecturers, leading four sessions entitled “The Search for the Historical Jesus.” Dr. Quarles demonstrated from the text and history that Jesus could be no other than whom He claimed to be, Israel’s Messiah, the Son of the Living God.

Other speakers included: Dr. Mike Licona, Apologetic Coordinator at the North American Mission Board, the author of numerous books and frequent participant in debates on Jesus’ resurrection with notable critics such as Bart Ehrman and Elaine Pagels and numerous others, Dr. Gary Habermas, Professor of Philosophy and Theology at Liberty University, Dr. Richard Land, noted defender of religious liberties in the United States and many others on the subjects of Christian doctrine, ethics, philosophy and practice.
