LC women dominate Letourneau on the road

by J.R. Rozier

Improve record to 10-2 in ASC as they look towards ASC showdown Thursday

The LC women's basketball team took a 2 point lead against LeTourneau and never looked back as they went on to win 76-50.

Freshman center Voneshia Williams scored the first basket just 18 seconds into the first quarter. The 2 point margin would be the Wildcats' smallest lead of the day.

LeTourneau kept the score close for the first 10 minutes of the first half, but the dominant team performance by the Wildcats led to a 20 point margin going into the half, 46-26.

LC continued to beat down the Yellow Jackets in the second half and easily put the game away early on.

Williams led the team in scoring with 15 points on the night as 4 LC players scored in double digits. Freshman Natosha Gottlieb came off of the bench and led the team in bench scoring with 14 points and Junior Guard Briana Lewis dished out 7 assists.

The team's overall shooting percentage was 44.8, but they shot 50% from the 3-point line.

LC will travel to Richardson, Texas to take on UT-Dallas next Thursday in a showdown for the number 1 team in the ASC. LC is currently only 1 game behind UTD in the ASC East division, and both teams have the first and second best records in the ASC overall.
