The November residence life event, LC's Got Moves, based on America's Best Dance Crew

Each month, Louisiana College Residence Life hosts a campus wide event. LC's Got Moves, the November event, was based on the TV show "America's Best Dance Crew."

LC's Got Moves was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. There were four crews that competed: Ghetto Fabulous, The Old and the Restless, the PhD's and the Jerkformers. The teams competed for approximately $400 in cash prizes.

The PhD's consisted four male students imitating Dr. Aguillard, Dr. Gao, Dr. Williams and Dr. Shepherd.

Imitating Mario Lopez at host, Hayden Melancon, called the teams one by one to the stage to perform and then introduced the judges. Judges were as follows: Peter Allen, an LC admissions counselor, as J.C. Chasez, Yuli Johnson as Lil' Mama and Brady Duffy as Lucien P. Smith from "The Boys Next Door" since Shane Sparks, the third ABDC judge was unable to attend.

Each group performed twice and were critiqued by the judges.

In the end, the judges were unable to choose a winner and the PhD's and the Jerkformers battled for the title. After a second battle, the Jerkformers were named the winners and each of the three members received $70. The PhD's were voted crowd favorite and received $130 to split between the four of them.

Between rounds, the cheerleaders and KJ Roads performed and pizza, cookies and soft drinks were available while the judges deliberated. The cheerleaders performed a dance routine and KJ Roads appeared as a banana and danced to Peanut Butter Jelly. He received $50 for best entertainment.

There was a high turnout for this event as nearly every chair was filled and some people were standing in the back. LC's Got Moves was a promising event that might be repeated next year.
