Louisiana College ‘Voices’ along with LBC Call for an ‘Awakening’

by Kalee Christian

Debut of project at Evangelism Conference

PINEVILLE, La. - This last Monday and Tuesday, Louisiana College hosted the Louisiana Evangelism Conference in Guinn Auditorium.

Pastors, deacons, and church members from churches all across the state gathered together in hope of starting an awakening in our state, churches, and individual hearts.

The Voices of LC felt very honored to be apart of this awakening revival that was sponsored by the Louisiana Baptist Convention.

Back in December, Voices traveled down to Community Bible Church in San Antonio, Texas where they recorded a CD that sums up the message of this revival. Ray Jones (music director at CBC), Marius Peroux (sound engineer), several music arrangers and lyricists, LC's Dr. Fred Guilbert, and many others have worked tirelessly to make this project what it is.

The project is entitled “Awaken” and although Voices sings on the CD, it is not meant to feature them. Its sole purpose is to call our churches and state to revival - to awaken our hearts and prompt us to remember our great commission - showing people the love of God and to proclaim His Word.

As Pastor Jerry Vines would say, “It’s time put our ‘go’ back in our gospel.”

Voices debuted this stirring project on Tuesday night of the Evangelism Conference. The LBC, LC, and churches all across the state prayed and fasted for this conference, and their sacrifice certainly came to fruition.

“The power of God fell so strongly in that place, I don’t think anyone left the same way they came," was the perspective of one audience member. "My heart is stirred to do something more for the kingdom of God."

Numerous others held very similar conversations around the auditorium. As it said in the program, it’s time for all of us to wake up! Time for all of us to stop being apathetic and time for all of us to allow our passions to be stirred to make a difference in this world for the glory of the Lord.

Truly, there were hearts and minds awoken in hundreds of people in the audience. It’s time for all of us to join with them to wake up and start a revival!
