The Supremacy of Christ

by Al Quartemont

Nick Taylor, pastor of FBC of Pollock, speaks at Feb. 4 Chapel

Why is Christ so sufficient that we should place our trust in Him? And what possible relevance could the Cross of Christ have on me and my life today?

Those were the two questions posed to students at the Feb. 4 weekly chapel service at Louisiana College by Nick Taylor, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pollock, La. in a message entitled, "The Supremacy of Christ."

"The seduction of the world cannot compete with the supremacy of Christ," Taylor said. "There are many who say Christ is not the only way to God - this is the false philosophy of the world."

Taylor used Colossians 2:8-15 as his text in answering the two questions cited earlier.

Regarding Christ's sufficiency: "In Christ, there is fulness of life," Taylor said. "The fulness of Christ will satisfy you like nothing else. And when you are satisfied in Him, you will be satisfied in everything else."

Regarding the relevance of the Cross today: "The debt (caused by sin) which I had incurred, (Christ) nailed it to the Cross."

Next week, LC will have its Spring revival, with services starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Guinn Auditorium.
